Getting Back into Yoga
Yoga is one of those things I've technically been practising for years. Except I haven't, really, because I've never managed to keep it going. I keep repeating this pattern whereby I start practising it again, do really well for a few weeks and then...something happens. Usually, I go on holiday, or I have a really busy couple of days, and before I know it I haven't done any yoga for a week, and then it kind of just falls by the wayside. The longest I've managed is three months, which is great, but I really want to keep it going one of these days! Yoga's a progressive thing, and it's a lifetime affair. You can feel the benefits almost immediately, but to really reap the full rewards you have to make it a part of your daily life.
So, full of determination, I've signed up to a class, dredged up my old yogawear and got myself this fabulous new eco yoga mat from SweatyBetty. Not only is it the most beautiful colour imaginable, which is enough alone to inspire me to do my practise, but it's non-toxic, recyclable and latex free, so great if you have allergies. Even if you don't, using a mat that's better for both your body and the environment can only be a good thing, right? At £40, it's certainly not the cheapest option out there, and I almost didn't go for it. But then I figured that it was worth spending on quality; after all, a good yoga mat is your best friend, supporting you in your practise and helping you on your way to a healthier mind, body and soul.
I'll post up a full review of my new mat once I've put it through its paces, so keep an eye out!
Have you ever practised yoga before? Which yoga mat do you use?
